# Developer Portal

> The Developer Portal is your central hub for creating and managing OAuth applications, accessing API credentials, and monitoring your integrations.

> [!NOTE]
>
> **Get started with the Developer Portal** — Open a free developer account at [orbitforms.ai/developer-signup](https://app.useorbitcrm.ai/developer-signup). You don't need an Orbit workspace or plan. If you already use Orbit, open **Developer portal** from your account menu and sign in with the same login.

## Developer accounts

Apps belong to a **developer account**, not to a person or a workspace. A developer account has a name (shown to workspaces as the maker of your apps), members, up to 10 apps, and a test workspace.

* **Anyone can open one**, free, with a verified email address. Orbit approves each new account, usually within one business day, and emails you; until then you can edit the account's details but not create apps, invite people or open the test workspace. Each person opens one developer account and can be invited into others; switch between them from the account menu at the top of the portal sidebar.
* **Members** (Members page) are owners, admins or developers. Everyone can build, edit and submit the account's apps; owners and admins also invite and remove people and edit the account's settings. Invites go by email and only work for the address they were sent to. Members don't need an Orbit workspace.
* **Settings** hold the account name, website and the support email Orbit's review team and workspaces use to reach you.
* **Security** (under *Account*) is where you turn on two-factor authentication for your login. It is one login, so the authenticator you set up here is asked for in the portal and in any Orbit workspace you belong to; people with an Orbit workspace can manage it from Settings → Profile as well.

Workspace API keys are not part of the developer portal: create them in your workspace under **Settings → API keys**.

## Test workspace

Every developer account can have one test workspace: an ordinary Orbit workspace on the **developer plan**, never billed, for installing your apps and trying them with test data.

| Included | Not included |
| - | - |
| The v1 API, OAuth installs, the MCP server | Sequences, SMS and one-to-one email to contacts |
| Webhooks for every event, app workflow steps | AI credits and custom domains |
| Contacts, companies, deals, tasks and notes | Removing Orbit branding |
| Forms and booking pages (up to 5 forms, 100 responses a month) | Billing: it can't be upgraded into a paid workspace |
| Up to 5 people | |

Members who don't have an Orbit workspace create or join it from the **Test workspace** page (the person who opens a developer account without a workspace gets it straight away). Members who already use Orbit test in their own workspace instead: Orbit opens one workspace per person, so a second, test workspace would change which workspace their dashboard and API keys work in. Removing someone from the developer account also removes them from its test workspace.

## Portal Features

> [card] App Registration
>
> Register new OAuth applications and configure their settings, redirect URIs, and permissions.

> [card] API Credentials
>
> Generate and manage Client IDs and Client Secrets for your applications. Rotate credentials securely.

> [card] Install Tracking
>
> Track total installs of your app over time from the app detail page.

> [card] App Configuration
>
> Update app settings, branding, descriptions and callback URLs at any time. On an approved app, additional scopes, additional redirect URIs and appearing in workflows go through a [change request](https://docs.useorbitcrm.ai/apps/app-review.md#changing-an-approved-app); everything else applies right away.

> [card] Review Status
>
> Track the status of your app review submissions and receive feedback from our team.

## Creating Your First App

Once you have an OrbitForms account, follow these steps to register your first OAuth application:

**1. Navigate to the Developer Portal**

Go to [orbitforms.ai/developer-portal](https://app.useorbitcrm.ai/developer-portal) (from Orbit: account menu → **Developer portal**). The **Apps** page lists your developer account's apps.

**2. Click 'New App'**

Start the app creation flow by clicking the "New App" button.

**3. Configure App Details**

Fill in the required information:

* **App Name:** A unique name for your application
* **Description:** Brief explanation of what your app does
* **Website URL:** Your app's website
* **Redirect URIs:** OAuth callback URLs (can add multiple)
* **Scopes:** The permissions your app will request
* **Where your app appears:** *API and webhooks* (the default: your app connects over OAuth, reads and writes data and receives events) or *API, webhooks and workflows* (the same, plus workspaces can add your app as a step in their workflows). The form shows a preview of the workflow step. See [Apps in Workflows](https://docs.useorbitcrm.ai/apps/workflow-actions.md)

**4. Get Your Credentials**

After creation, you'll receive your Client ID and Client Secret. Store the secret securely—it won't be shown again. The app page also lets you generate a **signing secret**, the key that signs app-level callbacks such as the uninstall notification; it is shown once as well.

**5. Set the Uninstall URL (optional)**

On the app page, click **Edit** on the Configuration card: the **Uninstall URL** field is the last one, after Website. It is where Orbit POSTs the signed `app.uninstalled` notification when a workspace removes your app (see [Webhooks for apps](https://docs.useorbitcrm.ai/apps/webhooks.md)). Changing it applies right away, with no review.
